Basal cell carcinoma
(BCC or Rodent ulcer)

Basal cell carcinomas are common in sun-exposed older people

They may occasionally occur in young adults  

They are slowly growing, painless, often shiny and may crust or bleed

Usually, they are cured with surgical removal

Occasionally, very superficial BCCs can be treated with cryosurgery

Plastic surgery may be required at difficult sites, such as on the nose, or for large BCCs
