Malignant Melanoma

This is a skin cancer that can look like a mole. Excessive sun exposure and having many unusual moles can be risk factors for melanoma. If you have a mole which is slowly changing in its appearance, our consultant dermatologists, Dr Buckley and Dr Phillips, can examine it with a dermatoscope and decide whether it should be removed to check for skin cancer.

The earlier a malignant melanoma is removed, the better the outcome. Removal will leave a scar, and you may need check up appointments at intervals afterwards.
